Seems like while every other aspect of the economy is impacted by inflation, AMPs are holding steady. Not sure how long this will last but ‘make hay while the sun shines’?!?

I think that's why some places have increased their house fee and increased their tip rates. They have to make ends meet in their personal lives too.

Prior to covid, the standard tip was around $100. Now it's more like $140. I'm not saying the girls aren't worth it. But I wouldn't say 40% in 3 years isn't "inflation" either.

Another way to look at it. That was also the standard tip 20 years ago. So it went up 2% a year. A pretty good deal.

Inflation is now starting to hit the amps hard. After tax season there is a substantial uptick in business that hasn’t happened this year. good days have seen a substantial decrease in customers and normally slow days have almost no customer traffic. I know girls that have gone 3 or 4 days with just a single customer. You’ll find they they are getting out or going to a new line of business. I’ve told a few of them that you should have enjoyed it while it lasted. The extra 10 dollars on the house fee or the extra 20 on the tip isn’t making up for the volume lost. You can still keep tips down, they’ll take what they can get. The consumer is back in control!

That’s what I’ve heard and seen as well. They expected that after tax upswing that didn’t materialize. There are some spas that are holding their own, but many that are not doing too well.

I’m curious as to what line of business you see them getting into?

I know a couple that are working at the Korean supermarket chain in Flushing. A lot of them started in nail salons and are going back. And there’s always the restaurant business in Flushing, more, per capital than I’ve ever seen. They can’t go running back to Korea, that economy is following suit.

My favorite provider, she goes back home to Flushing during the week and comes back the next day around noon and works a 6 hrs or 8 hrs shift because she says it's not worth sitting around for 12 hrs a day. She tells me that she believes it's a combination of inflation and that more customers are perfering FS store's over R&T (which is where she works) store's BUT I'll say, the amount of tips these mongers are tipping these days is telling they don't have a problem with inflation.
