I do not understand the hand sanitizer showers etc. isn’t the most common transmission by respiratory droplets. How is showering and listerine doing anything?

It washes away any of those droplets that they could have transferred to their hands when they touched their mouth or face.

I wear a mask and don’t go near their face
I also mask up, but keep in mind that the mask offers YOU little protection. It is really meant to prevent you from transmitting the virus if you have it.

In the beginning when the scientists thought it was viable on surfaces, the mask was also to deter you from touching your nose and mouth, thereby putting the virus from your hands to respiratory tract. Still don’t understand the touching eyes though.

It more effective when both people wear masks. And the eye thing is because it’s been documented it can get into your system via the nasolacrimal duct.

Grade 1 surgicals and cloth masks offer little protection. A genuine kn95 or N95 certainly offer some protection. Why more people dont bother wearing kn95 i will never understand, especially indoors.

Depends on level of exposure. In a hospital, treating COVID patients, N95 would be bare minimum. On the streets, you won’t need that level of protection. However, indoors presents another issue. While N95 would be ideal, it is an expensive option. It may be overkill if everyone is already wearing masks. But, if you feel comfortable with only N95, you should absolutely use it.

No such thing as 100% mask compliance, plenty of chin guards and exposed noses indoors. Outdoors is much much safer. Expensive? Kn95 genuine FDA approved masks are $1.70 a piece.

100% mask compliance is just covering your mouth and nose to minimize transmission. It’s not surgical grade coverage. Non surgical grade masks are under $0.25 each. You can’t reuse N95, so add up the cost over time.

For a hobby that pays $300 a pop, cost of $1.70 a mask is mere peanuts. You can certainly use these masks more than once, unless you are exposed to covid people ie hospital settings etc

Yes. But $1.70 everyday until the vaccine is available, is a more expensive option than just adequate coverage.
I know people who use a kn95 for a few weeks before disposal. Point is, a reused kn95 will offer far more protection than a reused cloth or reused surgical. All for the cost of peanuts.

I disagree. A reusable cloth mask with a PM2.5 filter is only a few steps below N95, at a much cheaper option. Also, effectiveness of mask more than doubles if both people are wearing non-N95 masks. N95 isn’t meant for multi day use. Your exhalation will clog up those pores and can lead to health issues with those microbes multiplying. And that’s not counting the pores being clogged by foreign objects as it’s doing it’s job. As I’ve said, if you feel N95 if the minimum level for you when you monger, enjoy. I rather use a new non N95 mask every day.

If no mask by both monger and girl so be it. Most of us here are risk takers by nature, so we dont bother at all with masks. But if u do choose to wear a mask in a session, its very odd complaining about the $1.50 cost of a mask when with the maskless girl who sees 10 guys a day. But have no problem paying $300 a session.

No issue with cost if only for mongering. But just pointing out it's not the only option. To be honest, for the 1 hour session, I can give her one of my new unused non-Surgical masks, while I wear one, and it would be just as effective as me wearing a new N95 by myself, but still comes out cheaper in the long run. Because I can wear a brand new one everyday. Not just when I'm mongering. Also, don't have to explain to the wife why I wear a different mask at times. This is more relevant if people are wearing those N95 mask way past their usefulness. Every medical article about reusing N95 masks back when we were in short supply all recommended some level of decontamination before use. And to discard when the seal is compromised. I can't imagine wearing the same N95 mask for a week without risking health issues, and still maintaining that proper seal.
