What were the house fee prices when you started mongering? And what year was that?
How much was the average tip for a HE during those times?
I’ve only been in this game for about 4 years but I’m curious how much pricing has changed.

For a basic hj, as lots put it, it used to only be a Benjamin. I think it was about 7 years ago 120 for HE and HF was the total. After discovering places that offered more, I personally used to tip 120 a few years back and that was considered generous. Now I find myself just rounding up to 2 benjamins just for sake of ease. If I find someone really special, I'll throw some more money to keep them happy and for them to REMEMBER me. it's worked well for me and YMMV, but prices have slowly incrementally increased as has everything else in this country.

House fees have been remarkably stable for many years and I can understand an increase to reflect the impact of inflation which is currently around 7-9% depending on your source. The spas have real out-of-pocket expenses. What I don't get is the huge (relative to inflation) increase in tip prices. It's not like the providers are suddenly hit with higher expenses that are work related (cost of outfits? makeup? lube?). I can see some increase because they do have household expenses, but the tip increases have gone up 20%-50%! A good portion of that increase is due to the "generosity" of some mongers who have the disposable income to flash that cash and they have every right to do so. The downstream consequences for the rest of us schlubs who may be on a tighter mongering budget is expectations of the providers as they now see a higher tip minimum for the same services provided before! The result is a poorer experience for the monger and disappointment on the part of the provider-- sort of a lose-lose proposition. The answer is not "shut up and just pay more!"-- that's akin to "Let them eat cake!" I'll get off my soapbox now...

Back in the day (1970's) the house fee in most places in NYC was between $25 and $40. The tipping schedule was also much lower than today, however it is very similar to the increase of most costs over the past 50 years. And of course, salaries have also been on the rise since then.

In early 1970s the HF when I 1st started mongering in Wisc was $16 plus $5 tip for a HE. In the mid 1970 after moving to NYC at a place that was my ATF, (closed a long time ago) the HF was $30 and the tip was $30 for a short massage and FS including playing in the hot tub for a few minutes with a very pretty Hispanic provider.

To build a fire you're right ! It is an expensive hobby and when some providers expect more as status quo it sux. thank goodness for the regulars who know us and never ask for the tip upfront and gladly accept what we give them..When the providers ask for the tip upfront and don't get what they want it definitely kills the vibe/experience

I've been mongering a good 5yrs and house was always $60 hr( which you never seem to get the full) and 40 to 50 for a half. I always ask for the half and tell providers more tip money for you, they seem to like to hear that. CBJ has gone from 80 to 100, bbbj 100 to 120/140 now. FS 120 to 140/160
