Lowes and Home Depot have always been my go to excuses. It also helps that I have multiple unfinished projects in my house that I use as excuses to get out. I think wifey got suspicious once so I took her with me to Home Depot and walked around for over an hour "shopping" for what I needed. She got pissed off and we left. Now she automatically assumes I am going to be out anywhere from 1-2 hours whenever I mention Lowes or Home Depot. lol
Car excuses - use 1 every six months except batterythen possibly repeat:
1. Dead battery- winter
2. Dead battery- summer-at least 2 years later
3. lost keys/ locked keys in car
4. out of gas
5. overheating- make sure to pick up new container antifreeze prior to hobbying.
6. Aforementioned flats; very helpful if in fact you have a damaged rim to begin with. I use what I call the dental excuse. Just as old fillings seem to all need to get replaced at same time, tires all seem to go pretty close together time

Living close to a few inlets and beach I use fishing as my excuse. My poles and extra clothing are always in trunk and I've been known to stop and drown a few worms,sometimes even in winter. Explains why phone doesn't get answered (no signal, left it in car) It provides perfect cover in that clothes go right in washer and I am in shower. I also frequently mention that the smell of Gulp artificial bait has the same smell as pussy (always get told you're a pig)
