I have been in the hobby for a while and I know the first rule of thumb is never pay upfront fees. However I an noticing more and more providers are asking for up front fees even the ones that have been around for a while. Especially the higher end girls. Yes I have seen a lot more providers wanting something up front, I can understand maybe for a first time client only because sometimes a new person might schedule and then never show up so its costing the girl a lost hour or whatever that could have been booked with someone else.
Personally I wouldnt pay a dime up front because even a 'known' girl with a positive reputation could flake out and rip you off. Also sometimes girls get hacked and you might not be dealing with the person you think you are. Either way you are pretty much screwed, only thing you can do is post a negative review but even that you are still out your deposit.

deposits are almost always a scam of some sorts, @BillyBlueEye2 makes a valid point about stolen or hacked profiles of well known girls, have heard of that happening before. I will never pay a deposit no matter how tempting as house odds are well against you being a legit scenario.

I would never pay any deposit upfront. How are these deposits made anyway? Who would want any paper trail or any evidence of a deposit.
