Anyone do any hair restoration procedures. I still have an OK head of hair but starting to thin a bit. Been using Rogaine. Hard to judge the results.

You could try Propecia, which works very well for hair loss. I wouldnt recommend it though. There is a significant risk that it will cause depression, suicidal behavior, or other psychological issues.
Of course Merck, who makes the drug, did not report these as a significant side effects. Typical dishonest behavior by a drug company.

great website thebaldtruth.com all your questions answered about plugs rugs and drugs. Suggestion - find a reputable board certified hair restoration specialist who is not going to “yes” you to death. Need to factor in continuing hair loss if you start transplants. Also don’t want to look like Joe Biden circa 1988; no need to the techniques have come a long way especially in the hands of a talented doctor.

I remember the old days of The Hair Club for Men. I don’t recall if it was a scam or not — perhaps — but a lot of hair restoration remedies one should be careful of.

They did report it to the FDA as part of their phase IV post-marketing analysis review, It was discussed as being added to the label, depression was added. Merck no doubt made a strong argument to limit the label. A complicating factor is that these same thoughts occur in a higher frequency in balding men who are not being treated.

I think where they fell short is that they (the FDA) added a single word to the package insert. Depression. That wasn't enough.

I never understood why when UpJohn sold Rogaine, their CEO was as bald as a cue ball.

If you're just starting to thin you have time. Years ago mine started falling out on the top and crown. I started trying DHT blockers and by the time I found one that actually worked I was real thin on top and had a bald spot at the crown. Now it's filled in and I have some random hair growing on the forehead that I have to shave. It's not as thick as when I was 20 something but I'm 70 something so I don't expect that.

Do your research if you're gonna start popping pills. I was on Finasteride for a little over 4 years. In those 4 years I did experience some minor side effects. A major thing that I did notice, in between refills when I had no pills I noticed I had stronger erections, in addition more frequent morning wood. As opposed to when I had my pills, morning wood was less frequent and erections weren't as strong. Some times in between refills, I would wait a week to 2 weeks, just to see if it was psychological or what. Most I've ever waited to do a refill was a month and a half. I stopped taking Fin around the beginning of the lockdown of last year. Ever since then, my sexual prowess has returned to full strength. I remember during the summer, when places started opening up, I saw one of my usual girls, and she even mentioned how the "fun" seemed different, but a good different.

I was also doing 5% liquid Minoxodil, as well a dermarolling. As a matter of fact, I'm still using the minoxodil. Usually order it through amazon. The only thing I've dropped was Fin.

For reference I'm still in my early 30's, I have a full head of hair, however it has significantly thinned out. No bald spots yet, but its just not as thick as it use to be.

I will say that, finasteride did work. For the 4 years I was on it, my hair stopped falling out. It did take a couple of months for it to work, but it did work.

If you have male pattern baldness in your family or are currently balding, a transplant isn't going to save you. It will buy you some time, but ultimately you would have to take medication as well (Finasteride, propecia, dusteride). Reason being, your newly transplanted hair will stay on your head, because it isn't affected by DHT, but the original hairs that are on the top of your head will still be effected. So you will continue to thin out, until you lose those, and all you'll be left with is the transplanted hair. Unless you just keep transplanting hair, but their is only so much donor sections on you that you could do that with, not to mention how costly it would be.

I suggest, if you are curious, try taking one of the DHT blockers and see how your body reacts to it. You would have to be on it for maybe 3 to 6 months to see any of the side effects or results. Although I believe it was stated 9 months or higher to see results. Mind you the pills won't grow hair back, it just stops it from miniaturizing and falling out. Minoxodil is for the regrowth.

Good luck, hope I helped.

Hair Club for men and similar business- the weave is attached to whatever existing hair you have. What Sy Sperling never told you was that you have to really buy 2 “systems” to have one as a back up at a few grand each, then go back every 4-6 weeks to have it tightened as your own hair grows.

Can those red laser hats do any good? It used to be the only place I saw them advertised was in in-flight magazines, not the most reliable source. But now I see TV commercials and countless posts on Facebook, so the caps are more well known, if nothing else. But do they work?
