Won't help the original poster, but a true story for y'alls. Before technology. Before caller ID! 1980s. One day my mother received a call. Female voice: "tell your husband he can come pick up his clothes or I'm throwing them out the window". Well, I don't remember what exactly the words were according to mom's report, but something implying an affair. Caller may have even used my father's real name. (For those of you who weren't conscious during the stone ages, there was something called a "phone book". You could pull a million names and their numbers out of a hat. If you lost your phone - wait that was impossible back then, and your phone didn't hold your contacts anyway. If you lost your little address book you could just look up your friends' numbers again). My mother just laughed. The idea of my father being able to get himself a side piece was just so implausible to her. She just assumed it was a crank call. (There used to be something called a "crank call")
I did too.
Now I'm wondering.......was it? Did Dad have more going on with the ladies then we ever gave him credit for?
Moral of the story - be as undesirable as possible! Maybe then you can get away with all kinds of shit.
