found the best way to avoid going to amps too often

Like a moth to a flame, trying to limit my visits for my own sanity and not go 2-3 times a week. Best way to do that is a three step process
1. Jerk Off first thing in the morning. That usually tempers the need for a few hours and then I get busy during the day.
2. Don't have excess cash in your pocket. For me, having $200 or so cash in my pocket tells my brain "it's easy, just go there and spend some money". When I don't have excess cash in my pocket I am less tempted to stop by an amp while running errands on 10 or 46 or bloomfield ave or 22.
3. Avoid areas that have easy access to amps. Hard to do. See #2. Most of my errands are run on or near those roads, and there are too many amps near them.

So yeah, like any type of addiction, it's all about the triggers. Keeping the triggers at bay (jerking off, no cash, avoid certain areas) helps me to not want to go 2-3 times a week.
That being said, I do enjoy the ST so much.......
