Let's take a moment of silence and reflect on that wonderful "stairway to heaven" !!! Many, many, many good times ! A real Philly treasure along with Fun City that was on South 3rd Street and "Sue's house", Grey Spa on Samson. At least Osaka on Chestnut is still going strong. They were my Big 4 choices for Center City.
I haven't been by there in a while but I remember the hole under the front steps and the sidewalk seemed to be sinking. Then there was the main column inside near the steps that had fell about 4 inches. You could see a gap from it and the ceiling. The subway ran on Ridge Ave there and I think the street is sinking there.
