I know security and privacy are big items for both Providers and Mongers alike. So I figured I would tell you about this new browser I've been using for hobby-related browsing.

https://www.cakebrowser.com/

There are a few cool security features that caught my attention. The first being the option to lock the app. If your SO or kids tap the app, it just open to a secure login screen.

Once logged in, all your browsing is done through a VPN so wifi routers won't show what sites you are visiting. This is great for hobby sites, but I do caution on using credit cards through the app since I don't know anything about the VPN and it would be easy for those controlling it to snipe that stuff.

That being said, once I started using this app, I went into Chrome and cleared out all my past history and saved passwords. Now I rest easy knowing that if my Wife or kids want to use my phone to view a website, they won't accidently access my little secret ;)

One correction. The VPN browsing does require that you install the TunnelBear VPN app as well. But it integrates directly with it.

If you're using a VPN, any browser will work. You just have to be very disciplined with clearing your history. Most browsers have entry password capabilities, either native, or via extensions.

You're correct about the VPN piece.

To clarify, I use this strictly for my hobby stuff. So I don't care about the saved passwords, because aren't passwords or emails that I use for anything else.

If I'm in a situation where I need to cover my tracks, I can literally uninstall Cake and the TextMe app, and all traces of the hobby are off my phone in under 10-seconds.

No sms records, no call records, no web traffic. Just a sad old man looking for an affordable massage.

My ONLY comment to this is there are so many browsers that clear history on exit. Why would you want to put a password protected one on your machine. That's just asking for questions! "I tried to look for some shoes, but I couldn't get the internet open without a password" Leave the normal IE or firefox or whatever open. Use something like TOR browser and she or they wont even know its there.

I use chrome for normal browsing. But for hobby sites I prefer this option because I don't have to re-login to every site each time I open the browser.

I haven't really used TOR yet, but yeah I could see that being a more secure option.

All browsers do not clear history on exit until the users choose to clear the history on exits in the Settings. I do not know what TOR is. Can you elaborate a little on PM? Thank you.

Tor and VPN. I use both, but because of my job, first. For mongering I just stay far away from ie, edge, chrome, and safari. they All send data to the mothership.

Thank you. I must be screwed because I use Safari on iPhone and Chrome on laptop.
Just means apple and google will be giving you spa suggestions soon. :) Google is the devil to me, so I overly dislike them.

Make sure you turn off synch settings between devices. I worked with a guy that lost his job because of that. synched his open porn pages to his work laptop.

One of the reasons I switched to Cake was because I have my chrome synced between my laptop and phone. It's my own personal laptop, but I use it to demo things to my clients.

Nothing worse than going to amazon.com and as you type in Am... AmpReviews.net pops up

Not to mention the dreaded typing x in the browser lol ... This eliminates all that stress for me.

Just keep in mind.. if you don't use a trusted VPN, there's always a risk for man in the middle attacks. Be very careful with shit like CC and bank info on those things.
