I have been hearing Secretary Pompeo is threatening to ban WeChat. I know a lot of guys use it to talk to favs. Might be a good time to transition to another back up platform. Maybe Kakao Talk. Any suggestions?

Scrolling down this board I see I may be a little late to the party. This is not intended as a political comment, I’m just looking for an alternative just in case. If anyone has a constructive suggestion I’d welcome it.

I don't see that the government will actually block the Wechat traffic because that would face many legal and constitutional challenges. China can block Twitter and Facebook because it is an authoritarian regime. What the US can do may be to ask Google and Apple to remove the Wechat APP from their stores, making it difficult to install the APP for majority of people.

Wechat started as a copy cat of Whatsapp. When it became popular, Tencent (developer of Wechat) began to more and more features to it. Now, you can use Wechat Pay to pay stores and businesses and between Wechat friends.
