I had the same reaction.
Of course, it's important to read the situation and project an image of casual friendliness. I strike-up conversations with all sorts of people, such as when they are wearing a particular baseball hat or if the line at the store is moving too slow. If I receive no response, I smile and look at my iPhone.
It's all a matter of playing it cool, like Working The Room at a reception or party.

But for a few of us that is simply not an option.
A lot goes into that.
The kind of childhood you had.
How you were raised/trained by your father or some other strong male figure.
How the world reacts to you from a from a young age into adulthood.
I am not ashamed to admit that I have never even CONSIDERED approaching a civilian female. Not even once.
And still, oddly enough, I consider myself to be a man.
But for a few of us that is simply not an option.

Try going to King Spa on a weekend. I've been there about 3X. It gets crowded, but lots of Asian girls (& MILFs). I got the idea after I heard a few AMP girls talking about the place. There is one in Palisades Park, NJ and a few locations in other states too. Even if you strike out, its a relaxing day at a spa. Also, buying ticket online is much cheaper than buying them at the door.
