Pretty well. These days, it is a practically a dry scene altogether, except for the AMP here and there. Non-AMPs seem pretty much a thing of the past in these parts.
As recently as 2009-10, the non-AMP scene was still pretty good. There were 3 solid spots, including Elite, within a few miles of each other. A fourth good option was a place called Spa 61 in Schuylkill Haven, in the old PSP barracks. Had good experiences at each spot. Spa 61 actually featured a super hot Asian chick, Nicki - small frame and long blonde hair, and one of the hottest MP girls I've run across in my many years, Brittany- man, that girl's body was a virtual 10/10. I remember her saying something about being on or having tried out for the Sixers dance team, and I believe it.
All this was right before the crackdowns in Berks Co. began, first with the AMPs and then the non-AMPs. Elite was the last non-AMP standing; it held on for a few more years, with name changes, but eventually closed for good.
Heard many different stories about the reasons for all of the crackdowns, the most tenable of which was that the county received money from the 2009 federal stimulus to address 'quality of life' issues that it had to use or lose, and, at the same time, business interests and other powers that be wanted to clean up the Route 61 corridor to facilitate improvements and new business development, as, at that point, there were about 6-7 spots (AMPs and non-AMPs) just on the stretch between Pottsville and Reading. Can't deny that a lot of new development has happened since then - the new hospital up near Schuylkill Haven, some of the new business/industrial parks, and, of course, the never-ending work on Route 61 itself (can they just let that freaking I-78 interchange alone??!) Even the old Spa 61 building was razed to make way for a huge new car dealership.
Good for them, but that all leaves where we are today - light years from the glory days of the mid-90s when there were what seemed to be a endless number of great options, from Harrisburg (where, believe it or not, there were about 9-10 solid non-AMPs) to Allentown. The most famous, or infamous spot in the Reading scene was a place called the Odyessey, on Lancaster Ave - so famous/infamous that a book was written about it:

I don't see any return to that era in the near future.
