Ive thought about it for about a year now, primarily i would like to for added strength and muscle size. Im 54 and have been working out since 21 religiously, my thoughts have been on and off about it but 1 thing from keeping me from pulling the trigger is giving myself the shot, if there is a capsule or pill maybe but i cant see sticking myself every week for the rest of my life.

I believe gyno is a risk of TRT as well. Not a risk I'd be willing to take.
I am a year older than you and similarly have been exercising regularly since I was a teenager -- though I am not a "body builder" type.
I take many supplements including zinc and magnesium.
And I recently stopped drinking.
Natural has worked for me so far, so I'll stick with it.

Well I just turned 70 and have been taking TRT, for over 10 years. Started off with using a gel but it had a slight smell to it so quickly switched over to intra muscular (thigh) injection 1ml of 200mg testosterone cypionate every 2 weeks. I get checked by my urologist at least 2x a year, complete blood work and prostate exam. I’m not saying you should do it but for me I believe it works. I’m 6’2”, 220 lbs and work out at least 3x a week. Not a bodybuilder or weightlifter but can do 8-10 reps at 225lbs on the bench, but I have always lifted weights.
Still need by little blue pill for insurance. I think it helped me, maybe more so mentally but I do feel better all around. But there “can be” potential side effects.
Especially if you have prostate issues, diabetes or some other underlying problems.
You really need to have an honest talk with your Dr and weigh all the possible side effects. The only issue you really notice is your “nuts” shrink since your body stops making testosterone. No big swinging ball sack.
Good luck.

I originally got my levels tested because I wasn't getting spontaneous erections. It turned out my total T was good but my free T was on the low end of normal. Two dr's wouldn't prescribe, but a third did. Now my free T is high-normal, but the only thing different in my life is that I want to eat all the time.

I've been using Androgel for several years now. It has improved many areas of my life - more energy, improved mood, better sex. I guess everyone will respond differently to TRT. A lot of it depends on what your levels are to start. I was pretty low - around 200 - so TRT made a big difference to me

it could cause heart and prostate issues? otherwise why see the doctor twice a year for them
I see a cardiologist 2x/yr for other issues, not related to TRT. He's aware that I take TRT.
See my urologist who prescribed the testosterone 2x/yr to check PSA, prostate and complete blood work.
I understand the "potential" risks but, NO definitive study to confirm or deny its benefits or risks has been published as far as I know.
Like everything else in life, we all need to make our own decisions, weighing the pros and cons of our actions, for me I chose to take it and have been for over 10 years.

There's one oral T but it will give you liver toxicity. The safest perhaps a cream for someone that doesn't like needle. It will increase TT to 150-250 points by average.

I think as long as you are trying to maintain levels within the therapeutic range the risk is minimal. I get my T levels and PSA checked every 6 months
The side effect is managable if you do more frequent blood monitoring and you understand what you're doing. If you have no medical background you really need to work with an MD preferably urologist that understand TRT and general health. Don't work with the cheap clinic. The most basic mistake is wrong dosage and infrequent injection. For everybody the dosage is different.

The usual PSA, hematocrit, hemaglobin will rise in the first 6 weeks after that it will be stabilized as long as one is in the correct dosage. There're several health journal that's talking about this. If the dosage doesn't match with your body you may see issue (or further trickle down effect). With T, the less is more.

Hey. I’m going to comment on your trt protocol since I’m a nurse practitioner and I work in the HRT field. 200mg of testosterone cypionate administered once every two weeks is a terrible protocol. The half life of the cypionate ester is about 7-ish days. You should never, ever inject it once every two weeks. You’re creating large fluctuations in your hormones and adding unnecessary stress to your endocrine system. You should be injecting 100mg every 3.5 days to maintain stable serum blood concentrations. I would start splitting the dose and injecting twice a week, and seek out an endocrinologist who specializes in hormone replacement therapy.
