Driving and walking around Queens I noticed Oak and Queens Sauna in Elmhurst (both of whom operated through the pandemic) now have for rent signs out front. Saw the same thing in Rego Park and Astoria but don’t recall names or how long ago I last saw them open. Has anyone else seen places suddenly going out of business this month? And any theories on why? Landlords not forgiving rent anymore? Government assistance ending? Expected boom too long in coming? Will the same owners re-emerge later?

I don't know if she is being straight with me but my regular provider says she sees around 40% of the number of clients she saw before the pandemic. It could be that some marginally profitable spas will have close until people stop being afraid of close contact.

A few spa’s closed because of illegal conversions but others because businesses is slow.

Nah my regular utr houses are still busy as fuck. But I do see alot of store front spas closing. I think it has more to do with lack of "quality" providers. Nobody wants to pay the same price for worse quality providers.
Many providers just want to get down to business with little or no massage and are becoming fast houses.

There is a shortage of new talent due to travel restrictions from China. Additionally, girls currently based in Flushing are more frequently travelling to out of state locations where business is booming.
Number of visitors to the United States from China 2019: 378,000 2020: 2,829.970
In Delaware and South Jersey, decent looking AMP girls age 40 -50 are easily making $1000 a day. They get $120 - $140 tip for FS and they routinely short the time because they are so busy.

They prefer going out of state rather than staying local and working here. Also if they get arrested NY state it is a felony to working without a license. They all have some kind of green card application waiting in immigration. So they dont want to get any kind of issues with that also.

Some other states they dont care like Worchester in MA. You can open a store with nothing. I took a business trip there couple of weeks ago searched for a spa / massage / therapy at least 30 massage stores in that place LOL

True overall lack of quality girls due to the travel restrictions.

The KTVs and room salons in Flushing have been very slow. Many owners are behind on their rent and other expenses which is why several of these establishments have closed. Several of them are borrowing money from loan sharks so it doesn’t look good for them.

And “thinking about going after I ask the board a couple dozen more questions…” favorite, SaSa on Queens Blvd, closed because the landlord sold the building. At least one other on that block seems like it won’t reopen since the Ida flooding. But the closings may have guaranteed the survival of the few remaining on that block due to new customers lack of attention to detail and providers willing to say “Oh yeah, I’m Lisa, hurry up and get on the table!”
