162nd Street...Here I Go...

Gents,

I am going to break the piggy bank this week and plan to cover each joint I can detect along 162nd Street from South (3 joints on 46th Ave near to 162nd) to North (stopping at Northern Blvd-I think Vanilla Spa is last). A few have been reviewed here, but my monger senses count about 10 spots. If you can save me from myself by letting me know any "skip it" spots, I and my wallet would be eternally grateful. Alternatively, if I should skip the South-to-North trek and zero in on any joint, that's be appreciated also. Can't promise a review on each spot, but will report back.

I went browsing there back in May...Wangshun Spa (929-341-6303) on 162 & 46 Ave... elderly lady leads me in and points to the table. I asked if she was the only one and she said yes. I politely excused myself.

Second stop was across the street (646-906-6180). I'm greeted by a stick figure wearing lingerie about two sizes too big. Tells me $40 for the hour and demands that I tip up front. I tell her I'll tip after massage if the service is good. Replies back service is good, you pay now. No...I don't pay now - I leave now.

Thanks, Acheron--you may have saved me two crummy stops...I think I did go to the one across from Wangshun when it was called Momo a while back and reviewed it. Let's see how I do...

Along 162nd Street, avoid “놀이터” (4X-XX, 162nd Street) because it is an adult bar with young Korean gigolos. lol.

The amps along 162nd St have younger and cuter girls but it’s always been a hit or miss for me.

Skip Yono Do Spa, Floral Spa, Joy Spa, Grace Spa, and the other basement spa on the left (based in the direction of your spa crawl) and whatever is left in Lavender Spa and New Cherry Spa.

You probably want to start at Purple Spa, roll the dice again at Momo Spa, get lesser service at Wanshung,, and end well at Vanilla Spa.

Sometimes it is the chemistry you establish with your attendant. I've had good luck at Wangshun with additional off-menu services by trying to speak spa-level Mandarin and using a combo of mainland cultural approaches plus a translator app. My goal is not to waive my flag shouting "USA", but to be attuned to her red flag, knowing what luck it will bring me. At other places like Vanilla, I befriended one attendant and I always tip her more heavily than her spa sisters. She's often busy and refers me to other attendants as "a good customer" and they work harder for me than many other patrons. They all know they will get a little less tip than my friend out of respect for that relationship. They also know that I will report back poor service in a truthful, respectful, and their culturally aligned way. They care about their reputation with good customers. This doesn't work perfectly. I've reported my fails in prior reviews. It does work for me about 9 out of 10 times when rapport and chemistry can be established.
