The problem with the “no reviews” signs is that they often cover up rather mediocre services.
The “problem” with that theory is that while this shop does welcome newcomers, scheduling won’t be easy, because of the high number of established customers. If the service was mediocre, they wouldn’t be as busy as they are. This shop is operated by licensed massage therapists. Newcomers are an unknown entity. The attendants don’t want or need dudes coming in looking for services that are not on the menu. Some reviewers exaggerate, or post otherwise inaccurate and misleading depictions of their visits. Many years ago, when this shop opened as a satellite location of Bala Reflexology, their credit card processor suspended service at both locations, citing inappropriate reviews on Rubmaps as the reason. Those are the reasons why reviews are not wanted.

After Ginger left there was a new girl there for a while. Really bad massage. I wish someone had reviewed her before I wasted my money with her.

So, shop has enough customers and does no want more. Shop was suspended by their CC processor for some inappropriate reviews. Not sure either of these adds up to not being "allowed" to post a review. Especially if the service is bad or a bad review is earned. I've never been to this shop, but Bala is awesome I enjoyed several times. You can be assured that if a place gives shitty service I'm writing review regardless of their wishes. There are three places I visit weekly and as much as I enjoy, I'd post a shitty review for shitty service in my car in their parking lot, as I've done several times before.

There's another place that does some shitty work and their reviews magically disappear all the time, just because someone asked. Facts are facts, hiding them doesn't make them any less true, and on a site based on sharing of facts and intel, good or bad, positive or negative, it would seem completely inappropriate to not write a review. If shop doesn't want new customers, or they want no one to visit and ask about the menu, seems easiest way to success would be to get one of these "established customers" to post a shill white knight review saying it was totally therapeutic and nothing happened at all. Just like that other place I mentioned. Didn't turn out well for the one I mentioned, but hey, is their business to ruin or not. And when the shill white knights get called out for lying in their review, then they can accept their fates too. Again not sure how any of this is the responsibility of mongers who are here to share important intel.

Aside from all that, the posted review is the same one anyone could write about Hand and Stone. If credit card processor doesn't like it, then the universe will move on anyway. Processor making morality decisions doesn't seem like a good use of shareholders' capital, and they make these decisions in a mostly arbitrary fashion anyway. And given this supposed backlog of established customers and this very medium review, I doubt any of this will be an issue anyway. This review did not give me any impulse to get in my car, even after now three weeks have passed, still not getting in car.

Then why not go put it on google?

Signs are pretty well displayed. It’s rather ignorant not to respect their wishes.
Generally don’t respond to texts like these but I will on this one.

Because as a participant in this community/hobby, I feel like I should add when I can to my fellow bros, not the housewives, local reviewers or teenagers surfing through Google.

Several people had speculated about the whereabouts of the provider & the spa on here recently, so I had the intel and considered this a respectful and productive way to respond to them without betraying the intent of that sign.

Coincidentally, I bounced it off one of who I think most who frequent this and the Philly forums would consider as a very well respected longtime monger/statesman so to speak, in advance, for just the reason you sighted. I won’t name who that was but I respect and trust his judgment.

I’m glad you’re concerned for the providers and rather than get my guinea up… that’s the reasoning. Guys that have visited can read between the lines or send private message this way if they have questions.

By your own admisssion, you are an immature, impulsive individual who has not yet learned the virtues of restraint of pen and tongue. Angrily writing negative reviews from the parking lot shows your need for instant gratification. You get to “get even” and make yourself feel better about a session that may well have gone off the rails because of something you did. If you feel such a strong need to feed your ego with the negative emotions, it stands to reason that you are expecting your provider to “make you happy” right away, on your terms. I don’t know if you are still a very young still finding your way, Or if you are a jaded old head set in your ways. However you choose to respond to my comments is irrelevant. It only matters how YOU respond. Your first “lesson”, should you choose to take it, would be to refrain from doing ANYTHING when you are angry. Second lesson? Look very carefully at what role you played in any negative experience. That translates to life in general, not just the hobby. There are indeed legitimate reasons to call someone out for not honoring their end of any given contractual arrangement. The ethical way to do so is to take your complaint directly to management. Most business owners want to know when they’re not meeting expectations. You have an ethical obligation to give them a chance to correct the problem first, before making disparaging remarks about their establishment publicly. Your self righteous indignation is sophomoric and pathetic. You would have a business lose its ability to process electronic payments and orevent some guests from even being able to get a massage, because your constitutional rights to express yourself are more important. How many guns do you have? I e got the over under at 9. My guess is that you spend a lot of money at the spas, because your attitude would certainly preclude you from having any kind of a healthy relationship with a civilian.
