You both went a bit too far with the term "unfriendly". It simply just have to mean no legal reciprocation. There are plenty of countries that we do business with, but lack any legal treaties for law enforcement.

I don’t want to get into an argument. There’s plenty of good products on the space including ones based in scary countries like Switzerland. But without getting too spooky about it all, remember your browser also sends information about you, and if you use chrome, you are basically feeding data into google. And google is the true devil. If you’re really serious about security you have to shake up everything, which might be too painful just to look at porn for the average guy here.
ill tell you a story though. There was a guy in Korea who had his account to a porn site stolen. The thief then used the account to upload spycam footage from womans bathrooms using his password. The original guy was arrested, exonerated of the original crime, but they found images of barely underage teenage girls on his computer. So now he’s in deep shit.

its funny to me, in another thread there’s guys freaking out about showing a drivers license to an indie provider, but then over here there’s people basically stripping themselves naked to the government, Apple, google and Microsoft.
I trust an indie girl, a lot more with my info, than I do the government or google. It’s that simple for me.

We all have history that shades how we read things.

Depending on how technically savvy your landlord is. There's a good chance that they have no idea how to connect to the wireless router and view the logs. If you look up the router you have, the docs will show how to connect to it.

If I were in your shoes, I would try logging into it with the default password (which is usually either blank or simply the word "password" if that works, then there's a good chance that they are not monitoring you. From there you can clear the logs whenever you want. Or change the password, and then just wait to see how long it if he notices.

But to answer your question about VPNs, they may slow your internet down a bit, but the only thing your WiFi will see is you connecting to the VPN, all other traffic/data will be encrypted.

I have an account with Norton and signed up for their secure VPN with encryption for WiFi. It costs only $40 a year. Setting aside the porno stuff, it strikes me as a good thing for securing financial and personal information.

Norton isnt my favorite, but its a solid enough product and good for this. my chief complaint is having friends who complain about really slow performance from them, and difficulty cancelling once they got your credit card.

I have used Norton for six years now. It is more expensive than most AVs, but I have to say they have a solid AV and offer some excellent extras like the VPN.

So using VPN would prevent IP addresses from showing up in the router log? Or does VPN only hide your IP from the sites you visit?
Your IP address shows up in your router log, but it’s talking to a vpn site not the actual website in that router log. Someone looking at the router log knows you went somewhere but can’t tell where. On the site you visit, your iP does not show up, if the vpn works right. Some vpn server is the source.
