Whi Is There A Time Limit To Edit Reviews and Other Posts?

I wanted to go back and edit my review but that 2 minute time limit is crazy. This site is modeled very much like BestGFE. On their site you can go back and still edit your reviews and posts long after you made them.

It would be very helpful if we could have a much longer time her to go back to edit. I cannot understand any downside for extending it.

A perfect example, I could not correct the word "Why" in the title fast enough. Really crazy.
LOL  That's funny. However I somewhat agree.

I think two minutes for regular posts is ok, because often threads involve quick replies. But I think for a review, the poster should be given more time.

I think the best solution would be if the review could be held for five or ten minutes without it going live. This way the reviewer could edit it during that delay, and no one would see the unedited version(s).

Perhaps no set time limit, being that two minutes is awfully quick, but a one time edit option whenever someone decides to edit initial post at whatever date and time, just a thought.

On a music site I belong to, you can edit a post no matter even if it's years old. The edit function is ALWAYS on.
That can be used to entirely change the whole tone of the thread. Like you can call someone an asshole, and then after he goes off on you, you can change your post and make him look like the bad guy.

That's why quotes are so important. They can edit their post, but what you quoted will be the original text, and they can't edit your post unless they have Moderator abilities. On the flip side, I've seen people purposely edit the quote to make the post look bad.

You can only edit your own posts, and Slim that is a very good point.
To clarify, when I quote you, it's within my post. If I see that you've edited your original post (most systems would time stamp an edit after the initial posting), I can go back into my post and change what you wrote within the quote in my post. Both actions are negated by blocking edits after the initial time period.

Bottom line. We are responsible for dangerous keyboards and once we click post/send, we are responsible for our contents posted. Maybe Maybe make comment/review, and proofread several times before clicking post/send?? I am aware I ooped few times. For example, I made a comment originally planned to say shit list, but I clicked hit list. I had to resend with correction changing from hit list to shit list.

I remember the "late" Waterboy advising another member to read his reviews and comments out loud before clicking on "Submit".
