Wearing a Mask at a Spa

I'm going to start off by saying that I don't want this to turn political. I've read a number of reviews where members complain about having to wear a mask during their entire massage. I'm curious if the spa required that because I don't believe they did. Let's face it, a good number of spas don't follow every local ordinance, etc.

I visited several local spas and had nice visits even while under the so called "Yellow Phase." All of which I wore a mask inside and then took it off for the entire massage. None of the providers ever expressed reluctance by me taking off the mask. I'm taking advantage of being able to wear a mask while entering a spa for privacy reasons but once inside I like to take it off and have a normal session. If the provider seemed reluctant I would be respectful but I yet to experience that.

My whole point to this post is just that you may be able to take off the mask once inside and have a much more enjoyable visit just like before this shit happened. Just be mindful of your provider and treat her with respect.

Each provider that I’ve visited since the reopenings has had different rules and protocols. All required the mask on entry. One required it for the whole session.

That's interesting, none of the spas I visited ever made a mention of having to wear a mask to visit. If they would tell me that I had to wear it during the massage I would avoid. I've been happy with the spas I've visited since the reopening. Legally, they can't require you to wear a mask if you claim to have a medical condition. And legally they can't ask you about your medical condition either.

One I visited had a sign at the door saying all employees and guests must wear a mask. I ring the bell she answers without a mask lol. I took mine off for the session and she actually wore one in the room

People have different risk tolerances. If someone claims to have a medical condition that he doesn't really have in order to not wear a mask during the massage, then he's exposing the provider to risks she's trying to avoid. I think the decision should be hers, not his.

Mask will protect you to "some" extent when u are lying face down breathing the same cushions that all the customers have left.
The towel, sheet could be new but underlying foam is same.
Now one can take it off during the last 5-10 min ..
I really dont see any reason not to wear face down!

Have gotten a few massages since things started reopening. I've always worn a mask entering/leaving the building (my own decision). As for during the actual session, I always ask if she would prefer me to keep the mask on or not. I did whatever made her most comfortable since having a mask on was only a small inconvenience. I'd say it has been 50/50 whether or not they preferred it on or off

I enjoy going to amps as much as anyone. As of now wearing a mask the entire time I am at an amp is an easy decision for me, and it is smart for providers to wear a mask too. Not to be an alarmist, but there is so much that is not known yet about this virus, as assumptions about the virus keep changing. I am older myself, and I would say that the majority of asian providers are over the age of 40, many close to 50 and older. Being a massage therapist with an again surging virus across the country to me is a risky job, with a risk factor not far behind a health care worker. Personally I have no problem at all following each massage parlors virus prevention rules at this time. I want to do all that I can do to keep these women healthy and working, and lessen the risks of getting the virus myself.

They are however a private business and they can refuse to serve you.

I politely disagree. That would be like having a private business refusing to serve someone in a wheel chair because they have a fear of them running over other customer's toes. Private businesses must comply with the medical needs of customers. Granted, I'm just talking from a legal perspective.

My point of the post was that I've visited several spas and didn't have to wear a mask once inside which made my visit much more enjoyable. None of the times my provider ever objected at all. If the provider is uncomfortable that's fine, I'll comply with her wishes and probably not return for now. But based on reading reviews it sounds like many mongers don't want to but feel like they have to. All I'm saying is to check with your provider and you may be fine without a mask and you can enjoy your visit more.

Legal perspective? For an illegal activity? You must be joking. Yeah go report them or get yourself a lawyer because you feel it’s your right to get a massage and a handjob without being discriminated against.

And there are almost no medical conditions that make a mask dangerous. If you were that sick you probably shouldn’t be going to an amp anyway. You’d be that guy that actually has an MI during the activities.

Respect the rules of a business, respect the health of the provider, and respect the health of others and yourself. What’s hard about that?

There are no medical conditions that prevent people from wearing a mask. But that's a different topic. Any private business can refuse anyone

I like wearing the mask, especially when I am face down with my head on super thin paper or a towel I hoped was washed in between uses. I went to a shop that opened ahead of schedule, sometime in June. the provider did not wear a mask, and she like to talk. I felt some saliva on my backside as she laughed about something. Overall, I prefer the peace of mind from both wearing a mask at this point

So many AMPs don’t change the sheets and towels between clients...I’ve seen it first hand! Gross! Sunrise Spa in Harrisburg does and that’s one reason I like that place.
