Man, I'm not sure one was def black but the other two were light skinned but as soon as the second guy pulled out a gun I started shaking. I emptied my pockets as fast as I could. I knew if I fought back he might shoot me and take off

Looking back he probably didn't want my phone because he didn't have my passcode and he wouldn't have been able to disable find my iPhone
I am sure if they ask for passcode to unlock the phone, you would of give it to them...

Wow. Lots of lessons here. I only use a burner phone (i don't even know the number) and only carry cash. I leave my personal phone in the car along with my wallet locked in the glove box. I also only monger during the day (i travel for work). Good idea saying you were walking back to your apartment. I only bring my car key fab which is pretty small. I wonder if they'd notice it.
Glad you were ok. It could have been so much worse.

Sadly this is what is happening to alot of people all over. People are randomly targeted by masked men. They be on their bikes or come out of a car. Sorry to hear you got robbed and glad you called the police because we need people like those guys locked up. Also glad they didn't attack you or beat you up. Nowadays you got people here snatching lives.

There has been a couple of guys on a scooter dressed like that riding around downtown woodside a few times riding on sidewalks etc lately... never seen them before... looked like trouble... figure they are from the projects over on woodside ave and northern blvd... probably not the same guys but never know... Like I said before... I watch Citizens app all the time for crime patterns and that was the only strong armed robbery in a very long time in the area... let's hope they are not around anymore..

Jeans, button down and a north hempstead country club pullover

The north Hempstead country club sweatshirt is a dead giveaway tht ur not from there. Everyone on roosie is fake flexing...if u look like u could be a finance bro..ur the target. I walk up and down roosie all the time..I try my best to dress like one of the Spanish day laborers. And only take my mask off once I get into the establishments. I'm asian in my 30s but I get dark in the summer...so I can easily pass for a young Hispanic kid with my mask on. Lol. Ngl prob has kept me safe in a few situations.

it wasn't a sweatshirt, it was a pullover and the logo is so small I doubt they even saw it

Glad you are OK. Asian kid, 19, couple of weeks ago, fought armed mugger in BJ's elevator in Bath Beach Brooklyn. He was shot dead over a stinkin' back pack. Another mastermind criminal from the hood in custody minutes after committing the crime. Not worth fighting these scumbags but I get the urge. These people who mugged you, all 3, should get mandatory 10 for using a weapons. Anyone who is an apologist for "poverty based" is an asshole who never had a gun pointed at them.

Damn, word of advice is to not be out in corona alone once it’s night. You think it won’t be you until it is.

It doesn’t matter what you wear or if your in a busy avenue. What will people do if they see you get robbed with a gun. Just Watch and maybe call 911 but they’ll be gone by the time the boys arrive. These guys get desperate.

I usually take the subway at least to 82st just because that area has always been shady... If they allowed us all to carry then I don't think there would much crime... it's back in the courts again against Hochul new BS laws... it's definently not worth fighting back... since this thread I got my old wallet out and just put a metrocard and credit card in it and that's it.... split the cash into 2 pockets... this isn't just for mongering... this is just to walk out the freaking door... NYC isn't safe anymore... gotta keep your head on a swivel and always be in public... no side alleys etc.... Be safe guys....

Always felt generally safe during daylight hours. Of course, that isnt the case anymore. Also the stabbing in front of the pizza shop was after 8pm. Be careful guys and i thank the op for bringing to our attention.

I'm surprised.... that's MS18 territory. And further down there's another gang claiming territory. Do your mongering during the day in that area.

It's still a faaaaar cry from NYC in the 70’s, 80’s and early 90’s…. Lots of hyperbole & CCTV clips for every crime now. Everyone got used to living in Disney City, so now crime ticks up and everyone sh*ts their pants.
