I recall someone long ago saying on SH that the worst STD you can get are children.

I'd say an ounce of prevention is better than 18 years of cure.

Had mine in 1983 -- my libido actually went up. Had sex the same night no problems, started hitting escorts twice a week thereafter. Still pumping today.

I had mine done 20+ years ago once we were certain our family was large enough. Found a very experienced urologist with an excellent reputation. No problems of any kind.

@briancalled, I see it's been almost 4 months since your original post. You might have made a decision by now. Updates?

Old Cavalier, yes tentative appointment in June. Between the Dr and some of his staff getting Covid , and me and the SO also getting it (everyone recovered) had to postpone consult and procedure a few times. Plus there was a lot of creative explaining I had to do as to why I want one. Luckily she is still in early stages of menopause, so while remote, not impossible for her to still get pregnant. Told her in no uncertain terms I am not going to be paying college tuition in my late 70s, so unless she wants to go back on the pill, it’s snip snip time.

Had it done almost 20 years ago and haven’t regretted it once. Minimal downtime involved but still need to take precautions until they confirm you are now shooting blanks.

I had it done when I was 32, after two children. I am now in my 70's and no problem. Then it was done in a hospital, not sure if done in dr. office now or where.
Only down sides then were the stitches which "stuck me" for several days and hair became bristley as it grew back; but now I shave down there. Amps like a shaved cock and balls and I love a shaved pussy.

I looked into this when I lost weight and got in shape(got hurt at work and gained most back now). If you choose to get snipped shop around a lot. Biggest question to ask is how many of these procedures the doctor performs per month that will be doing your procedure. If he/she does 4 to 6 a month minimum put them to the top of the list but more is better.....also its better if they do them every week not a couple times a month. Also verify that the doctor you are consulting with is the doctor that is actually doing the procedure....not someone in their practice. What I read was that doctors who do the prodecudre more often have less complications than the weekend warrior snip jobbers. Most doctors do this procedure on Thursdays and Fridays to minimize down time for you.. you get a long week end to recover with frozen peas on your groin.
Most popular time for a vasectomy is the Wednesday before March Madness. A lot of guys laying on the couch with a bag of frozen peas.

Do it. Got done about 10 years ago. The worst part was that my fight or flight adrenaline kicked in during the procedure and I almost passed out from the adrenaline spike. Other than that, just what others have posted. I do have to some lumps where the incisions were made but I've had that checked out and it's normal and happens with some folks.

Ok here is the deal. I am educated. I have spoke to doctors. Now I need the real experts - all of you - to offer your advice / experience. I am long done having children, but never considered this until now. An SB situation may be presenting itself to me, and I will not trust an SB saying she is on the pill nor do I put 100% faith in raincoats. I have no intention of being subpoenaed for a paternity test.
God bless you, man, and I completely understand your reasoning. If you feel comfortable with having that procedure done, just find a 5-star doctor and nothing less. For me, I don't think I could ever get that part of my body cut open. I've always been very happy with everything down there as well as my performance so taking even a small chance that something could go wrong spooks me.

Plus you never know for sure but you may want children someday.

Bringing this thread back. Just had my initial consult today. There's a 30 day waiting period in NYC. I'll probably get some of tadpoles frozen in the meantime. I don't have kids, don't want any either, but just in case freezing the little troopers as back-up. In my early 40s btw. Once this is done it's one less thing to worry about.
