The governors of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania are directing the temporary closure of barbershops, nail and hair salons, and other personal care service businesses amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The order goes into effect on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET.
"All barbershops, hair salons, tattoo or piercing parlors, nail salons, hair removal services, and related personal care services will be closed to members," the governors said in a joint statement, "as these services cannot be provided while maintaining social distance."

Probably includes MP's. Make your appointments now!

Well....that escalated quickly. Understandable and necessary but it will be interesting to see which establishments can actually afford to stay afloat with a COMPLETE loss of revenue for weeks at a time.

This unprecedented event might lead to something we've never seen before: Asian Streetwalkers (far-fetched, I know)

The only thing left will be appointments to UTRs.

Still, it will be tough for most of us to convince Uncle Leo that we are visiting a relative in Flushing or Chinatown.

Apparently the state is freezing commercial and residential evictions also. So maybe not all is lost.
They still need to buy food though. Unless they decide to disperse meals, which I believe 1010 wins news reported would be a possibility. Also, there was an idea floating around that Trump would give cash to American citizens, not sure on how much it was, believe it was 1k for the month. But for that second idea to work for the average provider, I assume would have to be a citizen.

This will affect those with a window sign-those the fly under no visible flag, if they so desire, may still be open. But, it's gamble on many fronts . . .

These women have to have been saving cash on the side given the amount they make.

Depends on the girl and how they manage their income. I know a girl who says she's good for maybe a month, not so much two months. I know prior to these events, she says she sends money back home to her parents, not sure what she does with the rest of her income. However, you never know with some people, they could be telling the truth or they could just try to play the sympathy card.

I think some providers are living day to day. Anyone has any info of how these providers are dealing with the current situation? I don't think they can collect unemployment? What will they do for rent and food for the next 6 months?
I bet many were probably exposed already and developed immunity.

How about many other workers that are employed off the books and at least if someone was working legally their entitled to unemployment. Many providers have made nice money and shame on them if they don’t have a nest egg unlike some poor cook or restaurant worker that wasn’t making a lot of money.

A lot f the providers I know are living together to sharing expenses. They are waiting until May/June to see what the situation is. If it looks bad, then they may decide to go somewhere else. Either returning to China if possible. Or another city to loo for work. Some places will have recovered before NYC will.

It's half true. If they had the virus and recovered, they would be immune from catching it again. However, chances of them to have been infected early enough to recover is extremely slim. If they have it, it would be around now.
