actually the instrinsic cost of the suffering that a girlfriend can impose on an individual may end up being greater than straight up hobbying.

You don't get a girlfriend,
you get a friend with benefits.
If you set it up properly from the beginning,
it's a fairly easy out when the time comes
and no one is massively hurt.
