Hi Guys, Just relocated from NYC/NJ area. Lots of options up there. Trying to find a good, reliable spa in the Naples area. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks…. Just when I thought there was nothing going on here…
The busts occurred yesterday and appeared in today's news: https://winknews.com/2024/07/31/11-arrested-massage-parlor-bust/

This is an early salvo in the new weapon of the Culture Wars: Florida House Bill 197, or the Health Care Practitioners and Massage Therapy Bill [https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2024/197], was signed into law by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in May of this year and went into effect July 1.

First Texas, now Florida.

This was an amazingly large use of limited resources to coordinate raids on one day. It takes way over 30 minutes to drive from northernmost to southern most shop. And all to charge the masseuses with not keeping records of customers, it seems. Law effective date to a coordinated raid within a month. Hmmm.

Looks like you need to give personal info when going to a spa in Florida. What do you all think?
It sucks bigtime!
Not sure if many of the shop personnel were even aware of that requirement coming down on July 1, or if they knew how strictly and punitively it would be enforced.
Maybe this will energize a side business in fabricating IDs for use in complying with that requirement.
The law also forbids spa employees living on-site, i.e., sleeping, cooking meals, etc., all under the aegis of combatting the dreaded "human trafficking" - the magical new code word that legitimizes a world of hurt and harassment for these providers of essential services.

This new law, and aggressive enforcement of weird provision, solves which problem exactly?

The attendants seem free to come and go when they want are can schedule that. Imagine, just like a regular job where employees are expected to be on duty at certain times.

Just seems to put a lot of people out of work and make everybody involved operate in fear. I what should be a relaxing experience

also. I thought the law said the store needs to keep records of customer names and the customer may show ID. Operative word is “may”.

Appreciate the insights. ID for Spas. Not for voting
Without getting side-tracked into politics, what other businesses require records to be kept of customer IDs?
McDonalds? Home Depot? Walmart? I mean, outside of their preferred customer programs, just regular business.
I wonder how FL HB 197 would stand up to a constitutionality challenge, if anyone with legitimate standing wants to take them to court.

Other than medical related services, none
imagine having to register for a haircut. Or for women wanting to get their nails done. Or for Starbucks to keep record of which coffee ordered?
