PPA are scum bags, you could die in a car accident that just happened to occur in a “no parking zone” they’d walk over your dead body and give you a ticket.. 2 weeks later they’ll tow your car and even put it’s damaged front end up for auction with your dead body in it!!...yea that’s how ruthless they are I live in center city and proud to say my condo has a parking garage at ground level! I don’t even bother to get 1st district parking permits not giving PPA a dime fuck them

Courtesy Towing? Why not call it what it is; govt sanctioned theft. You can see the cronyism with all the parties working together against the person who legally parked their car and returns to find it missing. Wonder how many get auctioned off and to who before the owner ever figures out where his car is.

PPA’s latest trick is subbing a zero for the letter “O” on personalized plates. You can pay on the kiosk or the app and come back to find your vehicle ticketed. They write the ticket wrong but get credit for writing it nonetheless. So some poor slob who owns the real vanity plate gets the ticket and probably fights it and it comes back to you because it matches your vehicle make/color. Total pain in the ass.

If I parked on the street in center city a lot, I’d look into some car surveillance cameras. Worthwhile investment given these stories.

I use the parking app, once setup properly it is a really easy. You get a warning if once you're 15 minutes away from it expiring and you can add time right from your phone . If you're out watching the game or times goes over. You just key in the parking location posted on the streets.

I know not everyone embraces tech. It is just so nice to see how much time you have left on the parking meter from your phone. It takes the stress away from rushing back to your car only to see a parking ticket.

Granted it's a sensational story about a bonafide headache. At the same time zillions of automobiles who operate and park in Philadelphia every day without any such occurrences. PPA is overzealous and their staff are rewarded for meeting minimums. Bottom line is they're hated for being so efficient at their job. If they were lax there'd never be an open parking spot because people would just leave their cars for days.

Philly is one of the better large metropolitan centers in America. It's problems are common to all major cities, but their severity is less than others. Construction, housing and general economy was robust pre-pandemic. Likewise the arts, culture and restaurant community was sky-rocketing. Great AMPS, reasonable distance to the ocean, quick trips to DC and NY. Hard to beat for the price of a small % of parking troubles IMO.

Am I the only one who finds irony with how regularly mongers planning on dropping $$ or more at the AMP/AAMP piss and moan when faced with another $20 to park in a lot/garage or worse, scream bloody fuckin murder over a $26 parking ticket? Ye gods.

People who live in CC pay the ransom to the PPA for their Resident Permit (which requires proof of registration and insurance for garaging a car in a CC ZIPcode). As a former CC resident, it's no luxury having a car in the city when you need to have one. Let residents park in from of their house, or as close to it as they can get. Everyone else go to the pay lot or garage and STFU.

Wow, you are vocal. I live in the city and pay the $35 a year to park my car for an unlimited time in front of my house.

When I go to spas in the city, I find free 2 hour parking close to my destination many times. If not I know of other options 2 blocks away for 3 hours. If not I know other places 4 blocks away for 4 hours or more. It is all about how to navigate the city. Suburban dudes just pay fot the nearest lot or garage, lol.

You know I read that story before and I was in the city the other night. I very carefully read the signs and knew that I was okay to park there because it's free for overnight parking in that area.

So I parked a few blocks away from where I was going and when I came back around the block I didn't see any cars. I'm thinking to myself oh my God they towed all the cars away my car is gone!

Then I realized I parked another block up, lol.

Had that feeling enough times when I parked in Center City.

My daughter used to take the Bolt Bus near 30th street and we'd give her a ride. PPA scum bag would stand around about 150 ft away from the actual bus loading zone, hiding behind a RR bridge abuttment, then run over and start a ticket when he saw people leave their car to carry suitcase for bus passengers.

Last time I parked on the street and used a meter, my time ran out at 4:51. I had a Dr appt and got to my car at 4:53. It already had a ticket and no PPA person anywhere in sight. Oh, and someone had hit it in the front too, doing about $800 in a damage. I will not do street parking in Philly anymore, it's just not worth it. Sure you can get hit in a lot but its less likely
