Newbie on Verification Process...

Good morning, Mr. holster. Welcome to the board here. 
I'm in New York, and only have a little bit of experience going to Manhattan places that require some kind of verification. One just asked to see my driver's license for a quick look. The other (over the phone) said that they would need to see two forms of identification - one specifically from my place of employment. For the latter, I did not feel comfortable sharing that with them, so I did not patronize them. So I think it all depends on the individual business.
I do hope that you wait until "things calm down" (as you say) before going. How long that will be, no one can say at this point, but it's in your best interest (as well as your loved ones) that you abstain from using these services for the time being.
Now is a fine time to acclimate yourself to this board! There's plenty of useful and fascinating information here (just avoid political discussions!)

Be careful on the information you provide. There was a somewhat well reviewed independent who was accused of robbing a client in 2018. From what I know she never denied the accusation, stopped advertising, and her twitter account is inactive. I saw this independent 2 times before she was accused, but am still uncomfortable that she has some personal information on me.
