I'm a little worried about not getting much from Social Security when I'm in my 60s. I would only get 500 dollars if I left now.
I saw in one of your earlier comments that you are not sure if teaching pay in Thailand is subject to US tax and Social Security...if I were you I would find that out. I recently learned some details regarding how social security benefits are calculated that I wish I understood 10 year ago. If you don't know how the benefit is calculated I recommend that you watch some video's on it (watch more than one video and make sure you really understand it) The key concepts are average monthly Social Security wage (35 years worth and indexed) and "Bend Points". As I understand it based on current wage levels there is a sweet spot of an average of approximately $1,000 per month indexed income that was subject to Social Security tax that gives you the biggest return in terms of what your actual Social Security benefit payment would be in retirement. I would be looking to do what was necessary to make sure I at least maximized the calculation within the first "Bend Point". After the first Bend Point the impact of additional indexed average Social Security taxed wages on your Social Security benefit diminishes significantly. Disclaimer...I am just a dude on the internet and not an expert in any of this so don't rely on what I've said above...just trying to give you something to consider digging into and learning more about.

I think 'retiring' in Japan, South Korea or China is not good for 2 reasons. 1) if you plan to monger everyday, it is going to cost alot 2) Even if you get a sa girlfriend, Unlike other 3rd world countries, people look down on old men hanging around with young women in those countries.

Pattaya in Thailand and Angles City in the Philippines are monger cities, and retiring is not good there because those places don't have alot to offer except if you want to screw all day. Personally, I am looking to retire in either ChiangMai or maybe Cebu City.

I vote for Chiang Mai.

I like light skinned honies.

Cebu is not bad too, but I grew up in San Jose, California. Too much Pinay pride can be a thing. And Filipino food can get really old quickly. Overly fried, too much sweetness and just excessive seasonings.

You’re right about Korea—people do look down on old men who hang out with young women.

Jamshil (an area in southern Seoul) is where many older men date young women.

Nobody has ever said anything to me about being 30 years older than my date in Seoul. But maybe that’s cause they’re all worked up over a gringo being out with the prettiest Kgirl in the room. Or maybe it’s because I don’t give two fucks for what anyone else thinks. Or says.
TBH Koreans are like a herd of geese that turns on one of its members after it hurt his leg and can’t walk right, pecking at it until it leaves the flock. If you’re different in any way, Koreans will helpfully point it out to you. Fat? They’ll tell you on the bus. Big nose? They’ll loudly talk about it in the coffee line. Don’t drink alcohol? You’ll be able to explain why to complete strangers at other tables 10 times every night.
so yes if you have thin skin, don’t settle in Korea. But it’s a lot easier lift, coming from USA to Korea, than Phils or Thailand. And btw, once you learn a little Thai, you’ll find Thais are like that too, just more subtle.

I personally think Chiang Mai is a better place too, but the problem is that English is not widely spoken in Thailand compared to the Philippines.

Philippines:
Metro Manila has some very nice westernized areas that are good transitions for Americans.
Look up Bonifacio Global City (BGC) and Makati.
English is widely spoken and western amenities are common.
Cebu has areas like IT Park that are similar.
There are other areas as well.

You can really stretch your dollars if you go to more rural areas. Just be aware that some rural areas are not close to good medical centers.

I liked Malaysia, but not as a mongering country. It's not as bad as the ME, but the Muslim majority is constricting. Other countries in that area are better mongering destinations IMO. But it's beautiful there and the food is great.

I may move to SE Asia, but mongering wont be a big part of it. Age gap relationships are more accepted. Keep in mind that in a poor country, part of your popularity is that you can help make some lives better. You will be more attractive than you are in the US.
Hence you may not feel the need to monger as often.

It’s good to select an area that is safe for expats.
I would not make a monger area home base. If you live in an area known for mongers, you’ll live side by side with scammers and other criminals.
Wherever you go, be polite, don't be flashy, don’t criticize their country and stay out of their politics and religion.

A lot of guys end up in the Philippines, probably due to English being widely spoken there. I used to work with a guy that planned to liquid everything and retire to the Philippines. He was really serious about it. On the surface it seemed like a reasonable plan, and I think it does work for some guys but there are a lot of factors to consider. If you are going to move to another country just to monger, that could get old after 6 months or a year. Personally, after a week of mongering overseas I am ready for a break, and it starts to get a little routine after a while. If you are going with the intent of finding real relationships with women in these countries, that can certainly work but you have to keep in mind "women are women" everywhere in the world. There are going to be certain challenges with any "real" relationship involving guys in there 50s/60s/70s and women in there 20s/30s from different cultural, educational, economic, etc. backgrounds. I also think you also have to ask yourself, like anyone retiring, what am I going to do all day, 7 days a week? Do you have other interests and hobbies that can fill the time? These are just all considerations if you are really thinking about permanently moving to another country. Personally, I like the idea of keeping a place in the US and traveling to a great location (Philippines, Brazil, Mexico, etc.) once a quarter. It gives you something to look forward to and it also keeps it from getting routine.
the heat will wear you down. different culture, you get bored, etc. think with your big head.

Regardless of where you end up overseas, I suggest you keep a home base somewhere here in the States near a major airport (such as a safe deposit box and/or a safe in a small storage locker on an auto-pay plan or a cheap studio apartment in an inexpensive location). Use that location to store records, passwords, a few sets of clothes for every season and directions for accessing your accounts and funds in an emergency.. Have copies of your will, POA, insurance docs, etc. there, too.

Then you're not carrying all of your sensitive documents around with you, and they will not be accessible by nefarious characters abroad. If you get occasionally homesick, you can travel light and have all your personal care items waiting for you. Think of it as an an economy version of how the wealthy folks maintain multiple houses around the globe.

Happy Mongering!
