If you were a young guy would you go out to there to teach and live out there long term?
You should go there and spend a couple weeks before deciding it as a permanent option.

I like it there. The mongering is fantastic, the food is great, prices cheap. The cultural things to do are awesome.
but i found the heat to be overwhelming, Particularly in Bangkok.

I know Ronin is going up further north where it is a little better weatherwise, but i ended up choosing Korea. I'm a New Englander, i start getting uncomfortable when it hits 75. the 95-105 constant heat in Bangkok made me pretty uncomfortable.

I'm old as fuck too, and I dont plan to work for much longer anyway. No input on teacher salaries.

Thanks for the posts guys, I spent about year there. Really liked it. Yeah minumum Start for expats teaching is about 1,000 usd. I would only get 400 to 500 dollars if I left now on social security when I get retirement age. I heard you pay into a social security in thailand if your working, Not sure

Doesn't pay very well from what I know of it.
In Korea they were making the equivalent of about $2.5K/mo + living expenses around the 2014 time frame.
Which I think is good by general Korean workforce standards but horrific for an American who expects to monger.
I have a few friends who teach English in Korea. They make $2.5K plus living expenses but they live in a 고시원 (shitty dorm). Brutal.

I wonder if the American/English/Aussie girls who teach English in Korea do "SB stuff" to make extra cash...hmmm....I may need to rethink my "probably won't return to Korea" mindset....

Most of them are Canadians and Aussies and they are uglier than the girls at Lears so not worth your time. Let’s go to Busan instead.(y)

It’s not my field of expertise, but I’ll volunteer to do some research for you. There’s actually a lot of French girls in Korea too. But Aussies are very plentiful, and kinda interesting to me.

Depends completely on your financial requirements and expectations. I would if I would be happy just being comfortable.

I'm a little worried about not getting much from Social Security when I'm in my 60s. I would only get 500 dollars if I left now.

That’s certainly something to consider. I’m close to maxed out but like I said, I’m old. I can live very well in Thailand on just my social security. And I don’t have a lot of years in front of me. It’s an easy decision

It's pretty easy to find teaching work there. I'm pretty bored here in South jersey...My friend has been there teaching there since he left college. He has been with countless beautiful women. Most of them free. Young western guys are treated like b-list celebrities over there. Guess it's all about being happy everyday

Recently moved back to the area after living abroad for several years. I’m planning a trip to the Caribbean Panama or Puerto Rico soon. Wondering if anyone would be able to provide information on juice bars in San Juan or Panama City as well as decent hotels to stay in. With the close proximity to the east coast I can see myself in that area at least two times a month. I have good intel on locations in Europe, And Asia specifically Pattaya and the Manila area as well as KL in Malaysia
I haven’t hobbies in this area since 2010 and from what I have read on the board there are several places I remember in the Central Jersey area. My favorite spot was a place in Princeton called Eurasia. Actually still in contact with a girl that worked there and I see she is still in the business to a certain extent.

Pattaya: Paradise for White Fat Old & Bald

It's worth a look. I've never been there, other guys here who post say that there's much more than this. Temples, petting zoos.
But being old, white and bald (not fat yet) I'd at least fit in there.

I dont really like Pattaya at all. But the rest of the country is great. Pattaya is full of mediocre female talent, overcrowded with old men, and a filthy beach. there's not much else there. There's much better places to choose in Thailand unless all you want to do is hang out with fat old men and ladboys, drink beer, and chase over the hill escorts.
