Where is it? The people have spoken and overwhelmingly passed it. Now it’s stuck in legislative limbo, years after Murphy promised it and had to leave it up to the people. What the fuck do these guys do anyway? I feel like they are stalling to line up contracts and gifts to line their pockets. It’s harmless and I would like to walk into a store and purchase some. The shops I looked at are charging 3x west coast prices. Get it done so you can tax my money.

As a Pennsylvanian who doesn’t want a medical card and sometimes travels to Massachusetts for his recreational supplies, I support your thoughts 100%.

But you know how ridiculously things go whenever government is involved. I’m hoping to see New Jersey retail options soon, maybe in a few months.

Maybe I need to take a ride to hold me over. Waiting too long for what should be, some quality legal flower, and I don’t have any drug dealer friends. I just don’t want to get pulled over in CT and charged for trafficking or some BS, and worse have to drive all the way back for a court appearance.

Once retail starts in NJ, PA and NY will definitely follow. I just hope they can get their cronies in line quickly and not take years. There are millions to be made right now, sort the other shit out later.

The Lawmakers in NJ are still fucking the duck even though Marijuana was approved last voting session. You could probably go to one of the Marijuana Clinics and tell them you have some health issue. Once a Doctor approves you can get the weed! You can always find some quack to write you an Rx!

Weed is legal in NJ already, so you can do whatever you want basically unless you have more than 10 ounces and you're basically a dealer at that point. Buying is harder but you can always hold over for now through wherever. But yes the tax on weed will be high in the east coast for sure.

With most of the cops having other issues to worry about , I suppose they will not bother you unless ya run into some officer who does not like you!

most police in Nj stopped really even bothering with weed because the courts effectively places all pot cases on hold knowing that they’d get dismissed with the new law change. It’s been this way for the last 18 months.

While the number of daily arrests have been cut by about 50% to 55 people per day, that still adds up to 1650 people getting arrested per month in NJ, a waste of the courts’and citizens’ time, and taxpayers’ resources.

Sadly, it is NOT legal in NJ yet. They were supposed to sign the bill today which would make it legal but it fell apart. Murphy wants to ensure penalties for people 18-20. One of Murphy's reasons for wanting legalization is because of the social injustice (whites and black use weed equally but blacks are 75% more likely to get arrested) so now that its about to be legal he wants to impose punishment on 18-20 year olds. Does he think mosy of those will be white or black base don current statistics?

In NJ we have a Democatic Gov, Democratic House, Democratic Senate and they fail to agree on anything. Fuck Murphy!!!!!!

Murphy has zero support from the state legislature. Sweeney is basically a republican but runs as a Democrat. Sweeney is very bitter about losing the primary to Murphy and probably wants to challenge him again in the primary. I’m not defending Murphy. Mostly just explaining why it’s all a shit show.

The legislature hates Murphy (so do I). Murphy ran on legalizing MMJ and couldn’t get it done after 2 years. So it went to the ballot before the great citizens on NJ who voted 66% in favor of legalization. The legislature has hammered out the particulars for 2 months which Murphy was to sign into law Monday. The deal fell apart when Murphy insisted on penalties for 18, 19 and 20 years old. After trying to come up with penalties for 18-20 year olds the politicians in poor, monitory neighborhoods realized this would disproportionately impact minorities and declined to make changes to original bill. Here comes the fun! If Murphy vetoes the bill there is a good chance his veto gets overridden and he won’t get credit for legalization when it was one of the major things he ran on.

Posturing, positioning and maneuvering for the next election.

I’m more concerned about they are going to define and punish and enforce drugged driving.

This 18-20 year old thing is incomprehensible. Why waste time?

I agree it is all about next November in NJ- and I am also concerned about how they are going to define/enforce driving while under the influence. Alcohol is easily measured via a Breathalyzer right on the spot. Pot on the other hand requires lab analysis which cost $$$- who pays for that, especially if it comes back negative or below the limit? As far as the 18-20 year olds apply the same rules as underage drinking. Anyway you look at it is typical NJ bullshit-the state will screw it up as usual and the tax revenue will be wasted.
