Technically yes- when a police officer states and identifies themselves as such they are bound to present the proper credentials identifying themselves as such .

Under certain circumstances they can... generally if you are being a pain or treading where you should not, they flash a badge... wise people generally walk away. Every situation is different. All police officers are not dirty, some are. The higher up the ladder they are, the more careful and concerned about their image. The boots on the ground play a dirty game. Sometimes they become what they hunt. Fallout of the game.

if she says "no" i'm not 100% sure she's telling the truth, in which case saying yes and not showing her id becomes moot. isn't a sting based on misrepresentation as well, btw?

Best advice I heard was from the old tv show "The Man Show." Ask if they will do nude photos. Nothing illegal about that (assuming 18+) but an undercover cop won't do it.

Its absurd to think an underfcover cop must answser in the affirmative if asked is he LE. Why hookers believe this without thinking I don't know. I use the following analogy:
Suppose a cop infiltrates a violent drug smuggliing gang. One of the gang members has his suspicions and he demands to know if the undercover cop is a cop.
Do you expect him to say yes and catch 30 bullets in the chest? THey get totally flummoxed when they hear this..

Disagree each situation is different - I’m speaking about undercover you are are speaking about shakedowns and corruption which do not represent the majority of police officers - pm with any further comments - clearly we are on two different sides of the fence
