Yeah. I'm not from West Virginia, but I grew up and have a lot of family in the Appalachian region. So fuck those people that had a job opportunity presented to them decades ago that would provide more money than they could ever imagine with little to no education. Fuck them for being able to provide a life to their children they couldn't get anywhere else in the state and pay for their kids to get an education. Fuck them for being lied too by the coal companies that wrecked their bodies. And Fuck them for the pharmaceutical reps that found the pain clinics that flooded the area with company sponsored heroin.

Yes sir. Let's just show our intellect by using some old stereotype so I can look cool and get likes by AlexFuckingGood. West Virginia's 5 electoral points sure turned the tide in Trumps favor. They were more powerful than Russian bots they were! Glad to hear racism is quarantined to one single state! Took a long time but we got there everybody! Wish we could hold the "Racism Defeated" parade somewhere but it looks like the only place we can do it is West Fucking Virginia. Where they love polluting the world for no reason. They knew it since 1955 they did! Now they are all just sitting in their mansions the coal companies left them as a thank you, being racist, and fucking their relatives all the live long day just to show the intellectuals how it's done.

Probably couldn't be that as one of the poorest states nobody ever leaves. Or they just haven't been able to get tested. Or it could be the corruption that they won't report it if someone does have it. Couldn't be that. The entire population had to elect Trump, get Black Lung on purpose, create and provide a FDA approved form of heroin, be the only racist bunch of people in the U.S, and somehow find time to fuck their relatives in between, Just to create a Coronavirus free utopia that is West Virginia. Yep. Sounds like you gentlemen are just as smart as you think you are.

The same could be said for every ghetto in the USA..We think we are a Democratic society...We actually are a Capitalist society..where the money barons don't care where you come from
Unfortunately West virginia and for that matter every state. This Virus is hitting every part of the world it doesn't care about our social, political, religious or economic standing..Viruses have been around since the beginning of time...it's the people with their head in the sand..that will make it worse..Fear and ignorance of world wide medical facts in this case is a deadly combination..

Talk about West Virginia, ghettos and political systems have nothing to do with the science of a virus. It's is just selected data sampling to traffic in more fear.

I think it would be wise to not select the facts that you pay attention to and to look at them more broadly. It is easy to traffic in quotes from officials in news programs. They generally want funding so they can take actions within their agencies or departments. I've said it on other threads, but so few people ever take the time to look at the underlying data and even fewer take the time to understand it.

Here's a Chinese study on the epidemiology of COVID-19 in 44,000 cases (link is flaky):

Many researchers are using this early data to draw some conclusions and find answers. The surface level data agrees with what you hear from the CDC about community spread. It seems to affect more men than women and they formed a casual link to vaping and smoking (using less than 1% of the data, so while it is not statistically sound, we shouldn't let numbers trump prudence). Nobody has an answer on why children seem more resistant to the virus, but it is clear they get over this like a cold and they can still spread it. The biggest thing that nobody has talked about is the >98% of people that survived this and are returning to their normal lives. We know there is some resistance with the formed antibodies, but it is not clear how long that lasts (weeks? months? years?).

The flu still has killed more people this year and that will likely still be the case when this has subsided. The scary thing about COVID-19 is that it takes a while for symptoms to show, during which time you can infect others.

Life as we know it will continue. That doesn't take away from how virulent this disease is or that it is more fatal to the elderly and immunocompromised. That's not sticking heads in the sand. That' just acknowledging the science behind the facts.

Let's accept that many more will be infected. Most of the infected will ride this out at home. And those with other co-factors will need more hospital space than hospital administrators planned on which is 8 beds for every 1000 people in the US on average. As much as people want to run to a traditional hospital, that is not feasible in any country on this planet at pandemic scale. If it gets worst, the military will need to step in and build field hospitals like they did in China. That's the planned safety net whether we like it or not.

No seriousness the density in West Virginia is very low this virus spreads mostly from human to human contact there’s not much of that in this state

In addition to the low population density, W.V. is not an international travel destination. The virus was brought in first from China and then from Europe.
