Had an unexpected work report in AC n Friday, that at 1st blush appeared to give me time for a massage with a follow-up a fat lunch at one of my ATF lunch spots in AC. What to do? I do what I should - I reach out to Massage Vet. MV was very kind with a referral that happened to be across the street from my intended lunch location. WIN-WIN! If I finish the job in an hour (maybe hour and a half), I can get a sesson, have lunch, and still be back home for a 3PM scheduled appt. with another customer in PA.
What goes down:
My AC customer figured out a way to extend a 45-minute job because they were unprepared for my arrival - Despite insisting I make 2-hr + trip there at 6PM the evening before, "because there was no other time for me to be there" before their c-suite suits came to town to do a final inspection before they open for the summer season. While inconvenient, it just eats into my lunch plans. PLAN B: Instead of dining room I'm thinking its 30 min. lunch at their bar and get on the road. Noon comes, I'm still at the job.......1PM, still on the job.........I call my 3PM customer and reschedule. 1:30PM, I've been there for 3-1/2 hours, and I finally say "you're out of time, I'll come back in two weeks".
With my 3PM canceled, the time pressure is off....I can return to PLAN A. I drive to the restaurant to park in their lot, and THEY ARE CLOSED. I guess they are only open for lunch on weekdays during the summer? Memorial Day is next weekend. WTF?? Switch to PLAN C: Park on the street, get a 30min session and grab lunch from Wawa on the way home. So, I circle the neighborhood 4-5 times, and no on-street parking anywhere. WTF!?! Then the boss calls, "I need you back in Philly ASAP for a 4PM job"....Me: "I've been on the road since 7AM, it's 1:45 and I haven't had lunch yet due to the 1st customer." Boss: "Make it quick, I'll tell them 4:30PM."
So, out of town I go, looking for a Wawa with a short line. As I cross the bridge, the thunderstorms roll in, with hail and flash flooding to make the beginnings of the PM rush on the Schuylkill more enjoyable. From 295 to the customer's location, I never top 20MPH. I arrive to a very PO'd customer at 5:15PM.... FML
Massage Vet, thank you for the referral. This is the review I promised you I would leave.
