Another vote for John's. 90 year history is hard to deny.

They won best Cheesesteak in Philly like a year or two ago, but their roast pork is what you must try while you are there.

As long as you aren't allergic to greens, get Italiano style with sharp provolone and garlic sauteed spinach. One of the best sandwiches in Philly without a doubt.
I'm gonna have to add that to my eat at home mix up. I just can't seem to get to Sarcones before they close or sellout. some sharp, crusty rolls, and 2 pots of pork and beef with gravy in a simmering water bath to snack on for a lazy saturday.

Joe's Soda shop in the northeast is a great steak. It was called "chink's" steaks but they got pressured to change the name. Donkeys is also fantastic, both locations as its the same owner.

Looks like Joe's/Chink's on Torresdale Ave closed, felt like you went back in time when you walked in there.

Nick's Charcoal Pit at 13th & Snyder has a filet mignon sandwich with sharp prov & spinach (called a Nick's special) which is quite tasty. It's a hole in the wall so takeout only.
