I just found out about a young man that a good friend knew who was in his thirties and who had run in over 80 marathons. He supposedly was on the mend from being stricken with this coronavirus when suddenly his condition worsened and he and passed away yesterday.

Over exercise (which marathon runners are accustomed to doing) actually reduces ones immunity for nearly 72 hours after excessive exercise.
There are so many health risks that are normally acceptable and outright admired in normal times. They need to be re-evaluated in a time when a deadly virus is looking for you.

This is another problem with this lock down. There are probably a ton of people extending their exercise regiment beyond normally acceptable limits in this time of stay at home orders.

Another problem with the medical industry is overwork. being overworked and stressed is another trait that lowers one immunity. It is why we keep asking for everyone to stay at home and let the virus die within us.

This is the most scary side of the virus. There are numerous cases where a young, healthy and fit individual seemingly recovering from mild symptoms, then suddenly turned worse in a matter of hours and died.

Yes it’s very bad that way.
Here there are of course no spare beds, no ventilators already, with the peak still coming. Doctors can’t “keep” patients for observation like they normally would. So these younger ones have been sent home, and are back in the ER 2 days later.
there must be a reason why some people get clobbered by this and to others it’s just a bad cold. It’s not fitness level, I don’t think. I’m thinking genetics or blood type, but I’m just speculating with no biological background.

This is what the two doctors said in the interview I read. They are completely confounded by the reactions to it in people.

They also said 20 percent of people who get it require hospitalization.

And we definitely don't have enough hospital space for the 20% of the infected as the virus rapidly spreads. We are adding confirmed cases at over 10,000 a day in the state of New York alone.

I think that's a tremendous over-estimate. The death rate was also initially over estimated. A recent article in the first-rate British journal Lancet puts the death rate at 0.66% of cases. https://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3099(20)30243-7/fulltext
That study seems too small to be accurate @48 patients. Wonder why they didn't add more.

On the call I was on yesterday they were projecting 1 out of 10 people that come to the hospital will die. Roughly half of them could be saved given enough equipment and staff. My county has a disproportionate quantity of elderly though too.

But no talk of what percentage of sick people come to the hospital. Here I think slot of people aren't coming in because they know it's overloaded, so why bother.

Hospitals have to bid on masks and we need privates planes to fly to China and get them? MAGA
Who else in the United States makes masks besides 3M who was criticized for selling to foreign countries? Now, with the Defense Production Act, 3M now cares about the United States. I think what Mr. Kraft did was heroic even if he has to get these masks from China. I just hope that these masks are not defective unlike the ones the Europeans recently had. That MAGA motto is bullshit. If these damn corporations, especially the manufacturing companies, didn't leave the United States for cheap wages and no worker's rights since the 1970's, the United States more likely would have top quality masks for the masses. Thank you Mr. Kraft for your efforts.

The other big company that makes in USA is Prestige Ameritech. I don’t know market share, but see both up here. Several companies are starting up factories, including Honeywell in RI.

America was great before Trump, and it will survive him.

But I doubt we’ll be able to sustain our needs this year for masks. Globally I’m told, something stupid like 75 percent of the masks are made in China and like 60 percent of the gloves are made in Indonesia. Someone isn’t thinking.
