1) get to know the various types & options. Generally, for self-propelled, there's class A, class B & class C. Towable RV types include toy haulers, pop-ups, etc. See below for definitions.

2) Rent one to get a feel for what's it's like. Many campsites (KOA, Jellystone, etc.) also rent cabins, so you can go camping even if you don't have an RV, so you may not need to buy an RV at all. Just load up your van with your stuff & stay at a cabin. This is what we do. It's very cost effective, since you don't have to shell out money for the gas, maintenance & other expenses of owning an RV. Many camp sites also welcome tent camping.

I like class C motor homes because they are economical, full featured and easy to operate & maintain. I don't like slideouts because they are more expense, and complexity. They also can leak.

A relative ove mine has one, and it spends 350days a year parked in the driveway with tire covers on. Once his grandkids outgrew family trips to Orlando, it never went anywhere. I have also Rented an RV for football weekends in Happy Valley. Having your own kitchen and toilet in the cow pastures is a big bonus (and when I was single, use of those facilities was easily negotiated with attractive women). On these weekends, I discovered that while they can be very nice, RVs are just not for me.

I own a class B. It’s the size of a full size pick up w/captain chairs up front. Fits in a regular parking space and I’ve parallel parked. It’s a Chevy 3500 chassis w/microwave, tv, refrigerator, toilet room/shower. I don’t live in but some do. I’m not retired. Travels great but not for large people. It has a full size bed in the back converts to sofa. Check out Pleasureway or Roadtrek for examples.

I've asked for advice here before and sometimes people have said why ask here go see a professional. Why. Because there are a lot of different opinions on a lot of subjects and most of them are knowledgeable

Dave, When you talk about women, sports, music, campers, vacations, etc, etc, I am 1005 behind it. There are some subjects, investing, legal advice, medical advice that could seriously affect someone personally. I usually put a WARNING disclaimer on my advice. It is a curtesy, not a curse.

The small camper would make having a sugar baby so much more cost affective than hotels. Honey, I have to take the RV out at least once a week to keep it in tip top condition. A boat would be another amazing place for discretion.

I went to one in Atlantic city once. That was a long time ago. Talking about the RV thing. Not going off topic. But about that Hershey thing.
