Going back,....the only time, the only monger in my opinion that pulled off gatherings was Mickboy. It was a time of Captain Dutch, Turnpike Mike, 1Girl, Jetlag, SANDMANHD and alike, a well respected cache of others. Sure, everyone says they're on board for such events but when the time came, the cream rose to the top and Wayne is correct, when it's done properly, handled, co-ordinated professionally, it's a very special, very good time.
The venues not only catered to meet/greet but offered private areas for more "quiet time", moments for interludes which may have not been possible or convenient for some, a chance to put an end to the wondering about the face behind the posts, ladies one may never have had the chance to meet. I could never rap my head around the challenge of putting something like this together and Mickboy pulled it off, more then several times.
Sadly, SANDMANHD passed away two years ago but I remain thankful for his friendship, his input and honesty,....purely one of the great board members who's sorely missed.
I don't know if anything remains in the threads/posts on the other board but there should, maybe a way of finding some history about some of Mickboy's efforts. I think the key is organizers credibility, the respect gleaned not only from mongers/members but the ladies as well. Afterall, no one's lookin to attend a circle jerk with a bunch of dudes and Mickboy had the well deserved respect where ladies felt comfortable attending one of his meetings. It was a very special time, doubt it could be duplicated these days, as professionally as it was. I could go on but I won't,....Wayne's on the money with his thoughts.
