I admire the guy immensely. Smart move, and so gracious toward his teammates. Not easy to walk away from $70M, no matter how rich you are.

He deserves better than the booing he got from the idiotic Colts fans.

He'll end up being a commentator either during games like Troy Aikman or one of the guys sitting around the big desk on one of the pre-game, post-game or halftime shows. Still make good money and don't have to worry about getting knocked around by 300lb guys.

Does Andrew luck own an AMP? Let’s stick to the subject here because I’m pretty sure ESPN has a message board somewhere
The title makes it very clear what the topic is.

I am not a football fanatic, but I am quite sure many on here are. It is big news in that circle. I really don't see the problem with an occasional thread like this.

In reality the Epstein thread was not about AMPs either, was it? But obviously a lot of people here had things to say about it. If members here don't care about this thread it will die quickly and sink down to page 2 and beyond.

If you don't care about the topic, see the title and don't bother opening it. That is pretty simple to do.

I really hate the "I don't care about this topic so no one else should either" comments.

PS: what is your evidence that AL doesn't go to AMPs? If he does, this news might cause him to go more often (more free time) thus raising demand and prices. Or his reduced income might cause him to go less, thus reducing prices. Either way the topic may indeed relate to AMPs.

20 plus million dollar parting bonus for Luck, not bad.
You know what bro...this is why I had a problem with this thread. This is a very touchy subject for me. I am of middle eastern descent and I have encountered racism in the past. The NFL is a very counter social establishment that will never change. Perfect example is Andrew Luck, after two major injuries and one minor injury he calls it a career and that’s fine. Jim irsay the colts owner, says he can keep every dime he signed for which is also very admirable but Barry Sanders, the Detroit Lions all time leading rusher done with a faulty offensive line and the stay puff marshmallow man as his QB, finds out that he has arthritis in his right knee after suffering 5 major knee injuries. He decided to hang em up with 2 years and 4 million dollars left on his contract, so the Detroit lions thinks its in the best interest of the team and the league to not just void the remaining on his contract but recover half of his signing bonus. EQUALLY?

No, it is not equal. But I am not sure how you tell someone they are not allowed to be generous because someone else was a jerk.

You're probably right about the double standard. But there may also be a different sensibility now than there was 20 years ago. There's been a lot written in the past 20 years about the toll a too-long NFL career takes on brain and body. Or it may be that the Colts ownership is classy and the Lions ownership simply were not. Not saying you're wrong at all, just that it's not 100% clear.

I’d like to hear your racism from the NFL story. Sorry you underwent such hatred.

Sorry for bumping an old thread. I thought it was unclassy that the Colts fans booed Andrew Luck who has given 100% to this team and organization. Very selfish of them. I think everything hit Luck hard getting married about to have a child and an injury along with the pressure to come back fast and get this team farther than last year made him not want to play anymore. I did see an old interview that he said he contemplated on retirement in the past. He had a lacerated kidney and played through that. Had no offensive line and the running game was bad to subpar. Arguably a top 5 qb, I like watching him play and I hope and I think he will come back.

Its not equal but maybe other owners wouldn't have done what Jim Irsay did and gave Luck that money. Maybe other owners would have gave Barry Sanders that money. The Lions also did the same thing with Calvin Johnson Aka Megatron. I don't know if they asked Megatron for the money back or they took it back but it was one of them. I don't know how many NFL players got to keep their money but who knows it would of been a never ending thread of people who retire and want all their money.
