Allentown Details: How much is too much? Addressing short term needs with long term goals.

Interesting to me that some take offense when responsible members in the Allentown thread recommend erring on the side of caution and ask that others resist the urge to go into detail reminiscent of a sophomore in high school bragging to the others in study hall about a weekend conquest. Please don’t get me wrong, details are critical and should be shared, that is both the point and value add of the site and I am a grateful and active member for that very reason. That said, there are legit reasons and valid concerns for those pleas of discretion and tact. There’s a fine line between sharing an abundance of information that fully, accurately, and vividly captures all relevant info and sharing too much that runs the risk of giving out so much detail that we inadvertently(benefit of the doubt to those that beg for overtly descriptive public posts) take away opportunity to visit the establishments that this forum was so brilliantly created to discuss and share information about. Just sayin, difference between wanting and expecting to hear certain info and almost inviting too much to be shared. Be relevant, be descriptive, be through, and be smart. All of these can exist in a great review without unnecessary, gratuitous, and irresponsible inclusion of certain things. This is particularly true when certain aspects of the encounter are tethered to others details of the visit. Even the establishments utilize cautious wording on their websites and posted materials in the spas and that’s for one simple reason: they would like to continue doing business with us. I benefit tremendously from others reviews(as i hope others do from mine), and if I have more questions, I reach out via PM and start a convo. The site makes it easy to do this and presumably the reason why public comments, private comments, and pm each have their own subsections. Its not my place to question why some people are clearly very troubled by other responsible members respectfully suggesting a more prudential approach in reviews, but I can’t help but question the ultimate goal of those that incessantly push back while others are simply trying to make sure that these places stay available to us all. Perhaps they have never been a satisfied customer of an establishment to only experience the disappointment when they learned that their favorite establishment has been shuttered due mainly to lack of discretion by some? I posit that they may not be aware that this is a concern and may not have experienced this personally only because it seems the most vocal opponents of some type of discretion do not have any reviews of their own.

This may not be a popular opinion, but to me by bringing this hobby to the internet one basically throws discretion out the window. Yeah, we use usernames and some use vpns, but at the end of the day this is all a log of our spoils, and some choose to share more than others. I think the Allentown board is just full of gatekeeping/gatekeepers from a time gone by. Things are a lot more loose, and dare I say welcoming, when you visit other sections of this website.

I get that. I do. Pros and cons for sure. And yes, at the end of the day, the anonymity is purely for our own false sense of security for sure. I just think that there’s sharing, and then straight up overt overkill. But again, I hear you for sure. Respect your opinion Devdev, always have.

I couldn't agree more with the OP's comment. I happen to be one of those members that politely ask for discretion in follow up comments. Then I get blow back from several members ( especially one in particular) , and get called names such as Karin, Jr mod, etc. But you know what it doesn't bother me one bit. I will continue to do what I think is good for the site.
I have well over 1000 Private Messages and have help over 100 members with having a good time in the Lehigh Valley and NEPA. I believe PM is the best way to communicate.
We don't have many rules on this site and the mods have a hard time keeping things under control. It is up to us members to help keep this site safe for all of us. So I will leave you with this. It is a post from one of the mods.

Do not have a public discussion about Private Details in the Public Comments. There is a Private Discussion forum for a very good reason in each section. The reason is to have that private discussion in a place where only those with access to Private Details can read and contribute. NOT IN THE PUBLIC COMMENTS OF A REVIEW.

I think a certain level of detail is fine as long as it's informative and (dare I say) educational to the board members. When the comments start to resemble bragging of one's exploits and (as OP stated) sophomoric conquests, then I feel the poster has crossed the line and made the post about himself rather than the provider. Personally, I want to know more about the provider than the providee.

This and other forums have the same discussions. Most members walk a fine line and resort to a PM for those interested in having more detailed conversations. As a poster, the discretion is yours alone in the private messaging format with whom you may trust and reveal what you wish.
In my previous life here and now current, I’ll always try to be descreit and leave the imagination to wander for the most part!!
At the end of the day nobody on this or any other forum is fooling those that really matter in keeping the secrets from emerging for what they are.

The same guys every day thinking they are the review police! Worry about your reviews! It is not your job to criticize everyone's reviews. Your opinion (and that's all it is) means no more than anyone else's. If a poster is so called, breaking the rules than it is the job of site management to let them know what they are doing wrong. The site has rules that need to be followed. Not your rules!

Up by me (new England rural) there was an incident 3 weeks ago in another website where a guy posted relatively mild sequel details, and in this town the cops descended on the amp and left a cruiser there for 3 days. The girl mentioned left town. So in the boondocks its really good to be careful, and some towns you can't ever say anything because the police are serious about cracking down. Its like the police will tolerate tug joints, but as soon as they hear someone is getting naked and blowing a guy, they move in. And most everybody loses. This spas been open as long as I've been mongering, never had much of a salacious review until this because the girls told everyone no reviews. Meanwhile I've sent more than a couple guys from here their way, knowing they'll get service. Maybe it will open back up, but for now the rules there are strict for unknown customers. Just saying the standards of what can be said vary widely regionally and town to town.

Does the info added to review necessary to make a decision as to whether another would visit the establishment? Is it really anything that’s not already known? What’s gained by the above and beyond details if they are obviously known, understood, and thus better left unspoken vs the potential exposure and attention that gratuitous details may bring with it? If this is seen by some as an ego boost, brag session, or some other outlet for self affirmation, that need may be better addressed in a therapy session than in a forum dealing with “sensitive” topics. Again, to each his own and just my take. My only goal is to have this site continue to be available to us as a valuable resource, one without it, this hobby would be significantly harder to navigate. I guess I’m just not a fan of biting the hand that feeds me or shitting where I eat if it can be avoided.

This is all fact too. And really johnny law and other citizens know already what those places all do. Heck one time a job I had servicing wells in the Poconos the call was to a Chinese massage parlor. My boss had no idea. But when I told him he was like we should try it out. And they comped us the house fee. He told everyone he knew even a johnny law we worked for. Johnny said he knew. Said unless there was know child trafficking or drugs and the owners kept up with local LE donations and there were no violent acts. Go figure the oldest profession really ain't a problem.
