The familiar red & white sign is on the door at 1820. Not surprising in view of the hotel construction next door. The rest of that block will be closed soon, as the hotel is putting its front door on the alley.

Yep, that hotel is gonna be the end of that alley. Been going there since I was a kid and walked passed by on the way to school waiting for the day I could finally go in. The one on ranstead is gone. Had great dirty times there. Maybe I'll go on a little amp crawl and hit all the places in one night.

Please try to eat plenty of sauerkraut before hitting all these places on the same street and experience the 66 to close 1820 chapter of your life with wonderful memories.

1820 has had a hundred names and has been there forever. Same block as 1800, 1812, and 1814. The red & white sign is the Licensing and Inspections' poster saying that a building is closed for violations. The closings are sometimes temporary and sometimes permanent.

I'd suspect we won't recognize that block within the next yr or two. I've been visiting 1814 regularly the past couple years. My lady friend there has moved on to a spa in MD. Gonna miss her...... We're slowly losing all our childhood favorites!

But maybe not. Sign is taped over. Door was propped open. Open sign wasn't lighted. Meanwhile, a couple of construction guys were working on the door at 1812.

I'm sure other Spas will open up in other places, but that alley just has great nostalgia.

Somewhere there should be a photo of that alley in the history of Philadelphia.

It's really a part of what makes Philadelphia so great. It's a shame to see it go.

I was wondering what happen to BeBe. She was a lovely and wonderful person. I called Roes Spa about 6 months ago. Mamasan told me she was in China. I wonder if she came home back yet. And where she will be working at now
