Like everything in life, it should be a cost benefit analysis. What is gained by gratuitous detail and what is the downside. Anyone who denies that this whole thing operates on the margins is simply naive. So what is there to gain? Bragging rights? Pretty sure all are accepted at the door so if you are relying on excruciating detail to boost your ego you probably have bigger issues to address in life than your need to include superfluous details on this forum. That said, there is much to gain by people explaining anything where there may be a question if something is provided or not. But there's a smart way to do it and a shortsighted way. Much like a door or curtain provide some cover for exposure (in more ways than one) so do subtlety and restraint on these forums. If you say you were there and everything was so and so, then you need not explain in graphic detail what everything was. Yes, it's a secret out in the open, but the secret is still a secret, even if it's a mirage. Again, I don't lose sleep over other people's choice in what they include in posts, and I'm not even positive it could negatively impact the longevity of the establishment and the level of service. I do however know that graphic descriptions serve no real purpose other than providing information, in writing, that can be acted upon by those in a position to, or with the desire to, shut it down. Cost benefit is really what it comes down to. What is gained and what is potentially being risked. In my view, like so many things in life, if egos are checked at the door, less is almost always more. Just my take, but again, with so many people posting, it'll never happen. I just don't get why people don't use the PM feature. It is probably the most valuable tool on this site and, at least in my experience, the most beneficial as it is a much safer space for candid and detailed information sharing. If there is anyone on this site that is truly going to learn something from another detailed, graphic review of what an encounter with Sandy is like then I sincerely apologize for being so out of touch. So, I will continue to do me, others absolutely have the right to do them, but I do not think the solution is binary. Reviews shouldn't be g rated but in my view they need not be xxx either. I believe we are all best suited if the standard resides somewhere in the sweet spot in between, informative without being flat out graphic; providing highlights and the game summary rather than the play by play commentary. But like I said, everyone has the right to roll how they wish. I would never publicly bash someone for the contents of their posts. I know others will no doubt will bash this post and that's fine. Just as I do not lose any sleep over the contents of others posts, I will not lose sleep over anyone's commentary on this one. So there's my two cents, sorry for the babbling and length. Stay safe.
