Thanks for the info, that's why they're all gone. I passed by a while ago and it looked like a new place that opened up where Red Sun used to be. Red Sun was great they had a steam room and shower downstairs and the prices with cheap and service was great
Red Sun was the best value place in Downtown Flushing and used to be my go-to massage spot. I was a VIP (as I'm sure some of you were) and would eat lunch with the girls, have drinks downstairs and get invited to some of their events like birthdays. I knew all the husbands, boyfriends (or both) for a while. Great massages, but the girls were all shady and competing with one another. The closure of the place was an interesting series of events
They got hit with fines for the steam room and shower downstairs, because those modifications were not registered with the city. The girls thought the place was raided by the police because the UTR Latina spot on that block had their girls showering at Red Sun (I loved the Latinas drying off in plain view, usually 2 at a time). Red Sun was actually hit with fines by building inspectors, but the girls wouldn't return to work. When the girls found other spas to work at in Flushing, they took their regulars with them. The business profits were destroyed by the cost of the modifications to the property and the lack of regulars frequenting the spa. The new girls were mostly older, and the young ones never stayed more than a week due to the lack of foot traffic and all curtain setup (no more walls). After losing money for 4 months, the two owners shut down the spa. They were already on the rocks for other reasons. A couple of the girls left the business altogether (the ones that were in school). The others were mostly seeing Asian patrons to avoid the experience that they had with the perceived raid at Red Sun.
FYI, building inspection and fines is how they got rid of the other 4 spas on that block. We're talking about $20K fines each. All of this attention was because of one other spa the next block down Farrington that did wild non-discrete advertising. They took two blocks of spas down with them. This happened to that same wild-advertising spa once before when it was on 41st and they never learned their lesson. The spa that created the trouble:
Ly Better Spa. I think they were in their 5th incarnation before the virus hit. Anyone that used to be on SH will remember the Ly Better threads.
TL;DR? The Red Sun girls moved on and some left the business. A spa that got too hot took them down along with several other spas in the area.
